Donna Lou Schuerman, 81, of Bowling Green, and formerly of Pemberville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on October 13, 1944, to Clarence and Martha (Johnson) Sweebe. On December 17, 1966, she married Donald Schuerman at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pemberville, Ohio. Together, Donna and Don raised three children and shared 28 years of marriage before Donald’s passing in April 1995.
Donna was a homemaker and a proud farm wife, caring for her husband, children, and the family farm. She worked outside the home briefly as a secretary for Bowling Green State University and later for the Wood County Historical Society. She loved being married to a farmer and devoted herself to caring for her family.
Donna was a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, a founding member of the Country Village Garden Club, and served on the Wood County Planning Commission. She had a love of gardening and enjoyed cooking, especially her famous yeast cinnamon rolls. She also enjoyed fine wine, traveling, and cars of every type. Donna had a special gift with children. They delighted in her famous paper bag and ball game, and no one could forget her signature duck noise that always brought smiles and laughter. Her nieces and nephews were especially fond of their Aunt Donna and treasured the fun, love, and memories she created. Whether it was spending time together at family gatherings or taking endless rides in the Gator, Donna had a way of making ordinary moments unforgettable. Donna was classy, stylish, and a little unpredictable. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren.
Donna is survived by her children, Eric (Becky) Schuerman of Bowling Green, Elizabeth (Mike) Combs of West Chester, Ohio, and Kent Schuerman and Molly Witker of Pemberville; her grandchildren, Amanda (Brad) McBride, Emma (Zaccaheus) Rush, Nick (Muriel Toerne) Schuerman, Sheriden (Owen Wallace) Schuerman, Tristan Schuerman, Spencer Combs, and Carter Donald Combs; her great-grandchildren, Becca and Cassie; her sister, Amy (Kevin) Reasor of Florida; Jennifer Schuerman, mother of Sheriden and Tristan; her special caregiver, Angie, whose compassionate care and friendship meant so much to Donna and her family; and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents, Clarence and Martha Sweebe; and her brother, Dick Sweebe.
Family and friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 220 Cedar Street, Pemberville, Ohio. Additional visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Pastor Tim Philabaum will officiate. Donna will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Donald, at Eisenhour Cemetery in Pemberville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Samaritan’s Purse, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
