I participate in the meals and activities at the North Baltimore Senior Center and am a member of the Wood County Committee on Aging governing board. Every day, I personally experience the effect WCCOA’s programs have on our lives, especially in the fellowship of a shared meal and in the games, the programs, and the exercises we do together.
The senior center is much more than just a place to gather for a hot lunch. It provides health and wellness programs, educational programs, travel opportunities, social activities, and a welcoming environment that helps us enjoy each other’s good company and stay active, engaged, and involved in the community. These services coax us out of isolation and inactivity and into a more active and independent life.
The levy funds that support WCCOA make these programs and services possible, not only in North Baltimore but across all of Wood County. These resources help thousands of older adults each year with home-delivered meals, transportation to medical appointments, and information about resources, programs, and opportunities available to seniors.
As our population continues to age, the need for these services continues to grow. Supporting the WCCOA levy is an investment in our parents, neighbors, friends, and, ultimately, ourselves.
I urge Wood County voters to continue supporting the levy and the services that allow older adults to remain healthy, independent, and connected.
