Bobcat Band members to raise funds during TAG day as well as collect items for Brown Bag Food Project

Bobcat Marching Band performs during BG Community Holiday Parade in 2020.

From BGHS BOBCAT BAND

Members  of the BG Bobcat Band will participate in their annual TAG day fundraiser Saturday, Oct.  2, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event is a major fundraiser for the band, raising between $4,000 and $7,000 a year, according to director Bruce Corrigan.

The band members will be going door-to-door, and will be dressed in their band uniforms. Eighth grade band members will be wearing red band shirts. The students are always pleasantly surprised to see how supportive the Bowling Green community is of the band, Corrigan said.

Because of COVID, the band was not able to hold the fundraiser.

Monetary donations will be used to purchase, repair or replace uniforms (some  of which are 30 years old), instruments, and support other related activities of the Bobcat Bands including a trip in March to Florida.  The band trip will include Disney, NASA, Cocoa Beach and Universal Studios. The band will also be stopping in Tennessee for a visit with composer David Holsinger.

In addition to raising money for the band program, students will canvas the community asking for donations to “The Brown Bag Food Project.” This project provides food and services to Wood County families in need. Community members can donate canned foods and other non-perishable food items. The Brown Bag Food Project is a local non-profit that seeks to address issues of food insecurity in Wood County. The Brown Bag Food Project addresses the immediate need for food with 24 hour turn around availability. For more information about The Brown Bag Food Project, visit their website at www.brownbagfoodproject.org.

The Bobcat Band enrollment is more than 300 students in grades 6-12 and will have more 50 performances this year.

Checks (payable to BG Bands) can be mailed to: BGHS, 530 W. Poe Road, Bowling Green, OH 43402

Donors will receive a Bobcat Band supporter tag. Receipts will also be available. If no one is home, this flyer will be left to inform residents of opportunities to help support the band.
