A Bowling Green man was cited for discharging a weapon in city limits after he reportedly fired a flare gun.
A Bowling Green police officer was driving in the area of Pearl and South Main streets Monday around 10:42 p.m., when he saw two flares shot in the air. The shots came from the area of East Washington and South Main streets.
The officer stopped William Szymanski III, 18, of Bowling Green, who was walking on East Washington Street, and asked if he had shot a flare gun. Szymanski reportedly said he did fire a flare gun, and had been shooting it for the past couple weeks in city limits.
Police found the flare gun in his coat pocket.
Szymanski was cited for discharging a weapon in city limits, and the flare gun was confiscated.
