Bowling Green City School District has been awarded $100,000 from the Ohio K-12 School Safety Grant Program.
The funds will be used to replace the public address systems at Conneaut and Kenwood elementary buildings, according to Superintendent Francis Scruci. Improved PA systems are critical for safety in case the schools need to go into lockdown, Scruci said.
Bowling Green City Schools was assisted with its grant application by Bowling Green Police Division, he said.
Another application round is expected in the coming months, when schools that have not yet applied will be given priority.
Scruci said Bowling Green City Schools had applied for $500,000 in the safety funding, and will apply again in future rounds of the grant funding.
Other local districts to receive the safety grants are Lake, $143,660; North Baltimore, $50,000; and Rossford, $55,500.
