From BOWLING GREEN CURLING CLUB
Bowling Green Curling Club will host the Junior U21 National Curling Championships April 1-6, 2025 at the Black Swamp Curling Center. Eight junior men’s and eight junior women’s teams will compete for the national championship.
This continues a streak of the Black Swamp Curling Center as the location of a national curling event. BGCC hosted the Senior Women’s National Curling Championship in 2022 and the College Curling National Championship and USWCA National Bonspiel in 2023. The center also hosted the Eclipspiel, a 60-team event that drew curlers from across the country during the April 2024 total solar eclipse.
The last time BGCC hosted junior nationals was in 1986. At the time it was a men’s-only event at the BGSU Ice Arena. The women’s junior championship began in 1987.
The winners of these championships will represent the United States on the world stage. The men’s team qualified to the World Junior Curling Championship in April 2025, while the women’s team must qualify for next year’s championship through a play-in event.
It is also very likely that someone in this field will be a future Olympian. In 10 years when we watch the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, we will be able to say we saw some of these athletes “back in the day” in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Tickets are available at $10 for a day pass and $40 for an event pass. Children under 10 are admitted free. Each day will have multiple “draws” (sets of games) beginning Tuesday afternoon, wrapping up with the Sunday afternoon’s championship games at 4 pm. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for sale from the on-location 9th End Bar.
Games will be livestreamed online with commentary on Stadium Sports Network.
