Good Samaritan injured in Perrysburg crash

A Good Samaritan was seriously injured Thursday evening while assisting motorists involved in a crash in Perrysburg.

The Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash involving multiple vehicles, and a pedestrian, that occurred at approximately 6:50 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of State Route 25 and Five Point Road.

Donna Farmer, 81, was traveling southbound on State Route 25 in a 2009 Honda, when she was attempting to make a left hand turn onto Five Point Road. Farmer failed to yield the right of way when turning left, and was struck by a 2024 Honda driven by Amy Schrag, 33, who was traveling northbound on State Route 25.

At this point, a motorist stopped out to assist Farmer and Schrag, whose vehicles were disabled in the roadway of State Route 25 northbound. While the motorist was providing assistance, a 2018 Kia driven by Melissa Rudd, 39, was traveling northbound on State Route 25 and struck the disabled vehicles. The motorist who was providing assistance was struck by the disabled vehicles and sustained serious injuries.

The assisting motorist, whose name has not been released, was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital.

Farmer was transported to Perrysburg ProMedica Hospital with minor injury. Schrag was treated at the scene with minor injuries and released. Rudd was transported to Toledo Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. 

Assisting on scene was Perrysburg Township Police Department, Perrysburg Township EMS and Fire, Ray’s Towing, BG Towing, and VJ’s Towing. 

This crash remains under investigation.
