HYT Presents “Journey to the World’s Edge”

Submitted by HORIZON YOUTH THEATRE

Horizon Youth Theatre is proud to present Journey to the World’s Edge, a drama written by Harry Michael Bagdasian and Ernest Joselovitz, directed by Keith Guion. The play will be performed October 22nd and 23rd at 7:00 pm and October 24th at 2:00 pm in the Veteran’s Building Atrium at City Park in Bowling Green. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door.

Journey is the story of Brigid, a young Irish girl with a physical disability who is ostracized by her village and over-protected by her parents. Inspired by a book of folktales, Brigid decides to leave home to seek the legendary Sea Mither and obtain her help in fixing her hated disability – her foot – that is causing her such distress. On the way, Brigid encounters many challenges, learns a lot about herself, and, with the help of the “seanachai” (“storytellers” in Irish folklore), realizes her original wish may not be what she really needed after all.

The play features 13 student actors in 5th – 8th grades from several area schools including Bowling Green Public, St. Al’s, Montessori of BG, Toledo School for the Arts, and Springfield Local. The production team: Jeffrey Guion, Assistant Director; Christina Hoekstra, Costumer; Wendy Guion, Queen of Props and Stage Crew; Shawn Douglass, Producer.
