Luna, a 6-8-year-old shepherd, was left at the Wood County Dog Shelter after hours, with no information.
When she came to the shelter, she was very thin, and was missing much of her hair. Despite her condition, she is one of the friendliest dogs, according to Chief Dog Warden Jodi Harding.
Luna is gaining weight slowly at the shelter and her coat is coming back nicely. She is still a little obsessed with food and will eat her food very fast. Because of this, she would go home with a slow feeder bowl to help her slow down when she is eating.
She loves to play ball, and has done well with the other dogs at the shelter.
“She will definitely need some TLC, but will be a gorgeous girl when she heals up,” Harding said.
The adoption fee for all shelter dogs is $89, which includes a $14 Wood County dog license, and $75 vet voucher toward spay/neuter and vaccines if needed.
The hours for the shelter are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The shelter is closed on Sundays. The Wood County Dog Shelter is located at 1912 E. Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green, phone 419-354-9242.
