‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ gives tax break to the richest, takes health insurance from the poorest Americans

Praise for the Republican “One Big Beautiful Bill” which gave a trillion dollar tax break for the richest Americans at the expense of the poorest Americans. Plus included allowing a $5 trillion dollar increase in our national debt limit.

The U.S. national debt limit, or ceiling, is Congress’ legal cap on total federal borrowing, currently set at $41.1 trillion after a $5 trillion increase in July 2025, allowing the Treasury to pay for existing obligations like Social Security, defense, and interest on debt.

Bob Latta said it was a wonderful achievement. Consider below what Bob Latta thinks is good government.

Medicaid is a partnership between the federal government and individual states created in 1965 to help Americans with low income get health care.

Medicaid cuts necessitated by the Republican “One Big Beautiful Bill” will have far reaching impacts.

The projected budget cuts are expected to:

  • Cause nearly 17 million Americans to lose their health insurance.
  • Millions of children will lose health insurance coverage.
  • Increase premiums and out of pocket costs for all Americans.
  • Threaten the financial position of health care facilities and providers.
  • More than 300 rural hospitals and one in four nursing homes are at risk of closing.
  • Half a million health care workers across the country will lose their jobs.

Medicaid cuts will increase costs for everyone, including those with employer based health insurance.

The cuts that are proposed for Medicaid puts health care at risk for 72 million Americans, including 8.3 million seniors, 9.1 million people with disabilities and 31.5 million children.
