The Perrysburg Rotary Community Foundation has awarded a $1,125 grant to Serenity Sailing to support its mission of providing restorative sailing experiences for individuals and families impacted by cancer.

The funding will be used to purchase self-wicking, lightweight sport shirts for the organization’s volunteer sailing crew to enhance comfort, safety, and provide a professional presence during summer excursions on Lake Erie. As part of the grant, the Perrysburg Rotary Community Foundation’s logo will be featured on the crew’s new sport shirts, recognizing the partnership and shared commitment to community care.

“This support allows our volunteers to focus fully on what matters most, which is our guests,” said Robin Cutcher, president and co-founder of Serenity Sailing. “From the moment participants step aboard, we want them to feel safe, cared for, and uplifted. This grant helps make that possible.”

“Serenity Sailing offers a unique and meaningful experience for those facing cancer,” said Jack Sculfort, executive director of the Perrysburg Rotary Community Foundation. “We are proud to support a program that promotes healing, connection, and hope in our community.”

Serenity Sailing provides free one-to-three-hour excursions in the Toledo Harbor, where guests can find peace and renewal on the water. Led by experienced volunteer captains and crews, each outing is designed to reduce stress and offer a sense of freedom during a difficult time.

“Sailing has a powerful way of calming the mind and lifting the spirit,” said Cutcher, a retired registered nurse and diabetes educator who is a cancer survivor. She turned to sailing as a source of peace and renewal. “This grant helps to ensure our volunteers can continue to provide a safe, welcoming, and uplifting experience for every guest.”
