Wood County Health Department to celebrate public health hero and host open house

In recognition of Public Health Thank You Day, Wood County Health Department invites the community to celebrate with an afternoon of recognition, reflection, and connection. The event will be held on Monday, Nov. 24, from 3 – 5 p.m., at the Wood County Health Department, 1840 E. Gypsy Lane Road.

From 3 – 3:30 p.m., there will be formal remarks and the presentation of the Public Health Hero Award. From 3:30 – 5 p.m. there will be tours of the health department offered.

This year’s 2025 celebration will include the presentation of the Public Health Hero Award to the North Baltimore Garden Club, honoring their contributions to improving health in North Baltimore through their help with the Creating Health Communities program.

Guests are also invited to enjoy refreshments during an open house, featuring recent renovations to Wood County Health Department and opportunities to connect with staff and learn how services contribute to better health outcomes in the community.

Public Health Thank You Day is observed annually on the Monday before Thanksgiving to recognize the essential contributions of those who work to protect and promote health every day.
