911 audit shows quick response time by county dispatchers

The State of Ohio’s 911 Program Office recently completed an audit of the Wood County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center. The audit found that 99 percent of 911 calls into the dispatch center were answered within 10 seconds, and that 100 percent of 911 calls were answered within 20 seconds.

All wireless calls in Wood County are answered by the sheriff’s office dispatch center.

The audit also revealed that 88.7 percent of the 911 calls coming into the sheriff’s office are from cell phones, 6.4 percent are landline, 4.6 percent are voice over internet, and the remaining 0.3 percent of calls are deemed as “other.”

Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn said he was pleased with audit. “The answer time for 911 calls is very impressive. I am extremely pleased with how well our communication deputies perform on these 911 calls,” he said.
