Luckey area resident found deceased in barn fire and explosion on Lemoyne Road

Today (May 27) at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Wood County Sheriff’s Office responded to a barn fire at 19707 Lemoyne Road in Troy Township near the village of Luckey. Shortly thereafter, an explosion was reported from the same location. 

While fire crews were battling the fire, the body of the 77-year-old resident, Duane Golden, was found in the barn. The initial investigation shows the likelihood of an electrical fire starting first, leading to the explosion. Golden was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Assisting on scene were Pemberville-Freedom Fire Department, Troy Township Fire Department, Wayne Fire Department and Bradner Fire Department.

The incident is still under investigation.
