A Napoleon woman was cited for child endangering after two children were left in her vehicle while she and a friend went to a downtown business to get body piercings on Saturday (Aug. 22).
Bowling Green Police received a call around 1 p.m., that the children and a dog were alone in a vehicle in a city parking lot. Police arrived to find a toddler in a car seat, a 10-year-old girl, and a dog in the car. The outdoor temperature was 80 degrees and the car was running.
The responding officer tried to talk to the older child, but she would not roll down the window.
While waiting at the vehicle, two women arrived at the car – Jenna Jamerson, 22, the mother of the toddler, and another woman who is the older sister of the 10-year-old.
The women reportedly told police they had gone to a shop to get piercings, and were away from the car for no more than 30 minutes. The sister of the older girl reportedly told police she returned to the vehicle multiple times to check on the children.
However, police talked with the business staff, who didn’t recall either of the women leaving the shop. Police were able to check camera footage from the city parking lot, and reportedly saw neither of the women checking on the children.
