A Cygnet man was arrested for OVI refusal and improper handling of a firearm, after a caller alerted BG Police to an intoxicated male in a vehicle at a gas station in the 900 block of South Main Street.
When police arrived at the gas station on Saturday (Aug. 22) around 3:22 a.m., they found Tayte Lentz, 28, reportedly asleep at the wheel with the car running and the hazard lights on.
When police asked Lentz how much he had to drink, Lentz reportedly said, “probably too much to be driving.” When asked about some white powder found in his pocket, he allegedly said, “that’s cocaine.” BGPD sent the powder for testing.
Police found a handgun in the trunk of the vehicle.
According to the police report, Lentz did poorly on the field sobriety tests, and refused to take a breath test. He was placed on administrative license suspension and taken to Wood County Jail.
