Leon John Chambers, 94, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away peacefully with his family by his side September 7, 2026. He was born June 12, 1932 in Wayne, Ohio to the late Gloster and Vertie (Reynolds) Chambers. He married Shirley Morlock on March 17, 1952 and she survives in Bowling Green.
Leon was a graduate of Portage Township High School. He was a founding member of Dayspring Church in Bowling Green where he served as a board member for over 20 years and also served on the worship team. Leon was a talented musician with the ability to pick up just about any instrument and play it well. He enjoyed biking, traveling with Shirley to Florida, playing shuffle board and spending time with friends and family.
Along with his loving wife Shirley of 74 years, Leon is survived by his children Ronald Chambers of Denver, North Carolina, Linda (Darwin) Grosh of Zephyrhills, Florida and Darlene (Calvin) Kohring of Pemberville, Ohio, grandchildren Ronnie Chambers Jr. (Angela), Shelley Koons (JR), Jeff Arrington (Jill), Carrie Conner (Jarrod), Erica Hummer (Shanon), Kendra Slates (Evan), Jacob Kohring (Liz) and Blake Kohring (Jenika) as well as 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Diana Arrington, brother Merle Chambers, sister Gertrude Wittenmyer and grandson Wayne Chambers.
Visitation will be held on Friday September 11, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Dayspring Church, 1430 N. Main St. Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. His funeral service will be held Friday at the church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at New Belleville Ridge Cemetery in Bowling Green. Funeral arrangements are under the caring guidance of Dunn Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to Dayspring Church or Bridge Hospice.
