From JUDGE DAVID WOESSNER, WOOD COUNTY JUVENILE COURT
On Sept. 1 and Sept. 16, Wood County Juvenile Court Judge David E. Woessner administered the Oath of Office to two community members who will serve as court appointed special advocate volunteers for the Wood County CASA/GAL program.
Jessica Wente of Perrysburg and John Shaffer of Whitehouse have completed over 30 hours of pre-service training and observation in preparing for their roles.
In making the appointments, Woessner noted, “I continue to remain thankful for those willing to serve as CASA volunteers in Wood County. The work our CASA volunteers do is important and rewarding. We truly appreciate the dedication of all of our volunteers.”
Since 1988, Wood County CASA/GAL volunteers have advocated for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or dependency. CASA volunteers visit the child(ren) on their case at least once per month, learning what services and placement would best meet their needs. CASA volunteers regularly attend meetings and hearings to represent the best interest of the child(ren) and communicate their findings to the juvenile court via court reports.
