Law enforcement recognized who rescued infant from stolen car

State Rep. Haraz N. Ghanbari, R-Perrysburg, joined Ohio Treasurer of State Robert Sprague Friday to honor 17 law enforcement officers and dispatchers for their valor during a recent high-speed chase in Northwest Ohio, which concluded with the rescue of an infant who was in the stolen vehicle. Ghanbari also recognized Toledo Police K-9 Officer Zola, a 6-year Shepard-Malinois.

The chase, which started in Findlay and ended in Toledo, took officers through Wood County on Interstate 75.

“I am thankful for the valor these officers and dispatchers displayed in bringing a safe conclusion to an extremely volatile situation,” said Ghanbari. “The service and sacrifice of our first responders, is unfortunately, often taken for granted. I appreciated Treasurer Sprague for joining me in honoring these fine citizens of our great state.”

Ghanbari presented 17 commendations from the Ohio House of Representatives, co-signed by Speaker of the House Larry Householder.

The law enforcement officers and dispatchers who were honored include: Ohio State Highway Patrol Sergeant Evan M. Slates, Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Matthew J. Born, Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Andrew B. Clouser, Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Katelyn M. Thomas, Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Michael T. Ziehr, Ohio State Highway Patrol Dispatcher Jamie K. Mariano, Ohio State Highway Patrol Dispatcher Mackenzie Cameron, Findlay Police Department Officer Ian Edinger, Findlay Police Department Officer Noah Burkholder, Findlay Police Department Dispatcher Baylee Valerius, Findlay Police Department Dispatcher Bailey Nyler, Toledo Police Department Officer Michael Garcia, Toledo Police Department Officer Jourdan Rupert, Toledo Police Department Officer Stephen Bates, Toledo Police Department Officer Daniel Revill, Toledo Police Department K-9 Officer Zola.
