Wood Haven Health Care has granted two more wishes for residents who live there.
Alice Rochte’s dream was submitted by her daughter Cathy Walters. Alice loved to color picture (with a paint marker type marker). She colored hundreds of pictures throughout the years.
Unfortunately she is not able to see very well anymore. Her daughter asked if we could hang up some of her artwork in her hallway. We went through many many pictures and chose six, had them framed and hung them in her hallway.
Alice had her entire family here, even some from Georgia when we granted her dream.
Dora Mclaughlin’s dream was to get her computer fixed. She enjoys playing games and watching movies on her computer. Her computer broke and she was no longer able to do that. An almost new computer was refurbished and donated to us, along with a keyboard and mouse. Dora was so excited she said that she will never sleep again.
Wood Haven Health Care’s Dare-to-Dream program was created to show residents that even at their advanced ages, some of their dreams can still come true.
Most of the dream requests fall into the categories of:
- Dream to go somewhere, like a sporting event, concert, Cedar Point or senior prom.
- Dream to be someone for a day, like a firefighter, coach, zookeeper or chef.
- Dream to get something like a computer, new suit or new dress.
- Dream to take an adventure, like a hot air balloon ride, a motorcycle ride, train ride or go zip lining.
Wood Haven accepts donations from the public to help the facility make the dreams of residents come true.
