Representatives and equipment from numerous emergency response, utility and associated organizations will be on hand Saturday, Sept. 16, as Middleton Township hosts its annual Community Safety Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the township complex north of Bowling Green.
Billed as an entertaining and informative day for the entire family, highlights will include landings by a Promedica air ambulance and Mercy Health Life Flight helicopter, a high-voltage demonstration by FirstEnergy, extrication demonstrations by Middleton Township Fire and EMS Departments as well as many hands-on activities for children.
“Community Safety Day is designed to be fun and educational for all ages, providing residents and other attendees a chance to meet local first-line responders and experience the high-tech vehicles and gear used to protect lives and property firsthand,” said Steve Asmus, Chief of the Middleton Township Fire Department.
In addition to Promedica, Mercy Health, First Energy and township departments, other scheduled participants include the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Wood County organizations including the Emergency Management Agency, Sheriff’s Office, Solid Waste Management District and Park District, Northwestern Water & Sewer District, the Haskins Police Department, Waterville Gas, Suburban Natural Gas, Shipley Auto & Towing, and Or’s Sunoco of Haskins.
Community Safety Day will take place at the Middleton Township administrative complex, 21745 N. Dixie Highway, midway between Ohio 582 and King Road. The event may be canceled in the event of rain.
