The National Museum of the Great Lakes opened its doors in Toledo, Ohio in 2014. The first decade in Toledo allowed the museum to establish itself as a top destination by opening the current 11,000-square-foot facility, restoring the 617-foot lake freighter and tugboat museum vessels, and connecting it all through their Maritime Park.
The second wave of growth, which breaks ground in April of this year, will elevate the museum to a new vision to make the museum and our region the place where all Great Lakes conversations happen.
In January 2024, Fineske became the museum’s executive director, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s operations and furthering its new vision to become the place where all Great Lakes conversations happen.
With over 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, communications, and education, Fineske is passionate about history, a strong advocate for arts and culture, and has served and supported numerous community boards including currently serving on the School Board for The Maritime Academy of Toledo.
