Agnes Graber, 81, of Bowling Green passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019. Agnes was born February 15, 1938 to Hobart and Antha (Robinson) Strong in Owsley County, Kentucky. Her family moved to Risingsun, Ohio in her early years, where she lived until graduating from Risingsun High School in 1956. Agnes married Maxwell Graber on June 1, 1957, and they made their home in Wayne, Ohio where they lived while raising their family. They celebrated 43 years together before Max’s death on March 17, 2001. An almost lifelong resident of Wood County, Agnes also lived in Pemberville for many years before eventually retiring in Bowling Green. Agnes was a member of the Wayne Church of Christ. She enjoyed many activities including following her grandchildren’s activities, crosswords, playing cards, and walking. Agnes was an avid Cleveland Indians fan; she never missed watching a game. She especially enjoyed gambling and time spent at the poker table. Agnes and her husband spent many hours at racetracks around the country, and owned several harness racing horses, including a state champion, Overcomer. She enjoyed wintering in Florida, which she did for the better part of forty years, originally at Pompano Beach and later in Estero.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Max, her brother, Wayne, and sister, Paulene. She is survived by her children, Randy (Lisa) Graber of Wayne, Pam (Dennis) Spoores of The Villages, Florida, and Michele (Dean Bell) Story of Montverde, Florida; grandchildren Trent (Tara) Spoores of Dayton, Kari DeLong of Fostoria, Marci DeLong of Fostoria, Luke (Sarah) Story of Little Rock, Arkansas, Jordan Story of New York City, and great-grandchildren, Cameron, Kelsey, Elijah, Kylar & Rozzlyn DeLong, and Maxwell Story. She is also survived by sisters Martha Deiter of Fostoria, Betty Dean of Risingsun, and brother, Herschel Strong of Findlay, as well as special companion Marshall Brigner of Findlay.
Family and friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 22nd at Barndt Funeral Home, Wayne, with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev.
