Arlene Elizabeth (Getz) Kirian, 87, of Bowling Green, passed away on December 24, 2018 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center.
Arlene was born in rural Bowling Green, OH to the late Alfred and Mary (Kellermeier) Getz on April 14, 1931.
She graduated from Bowling Green High School and attended classes at Bowling Green State University.
Arlene married Bernard Kirian in 1950.
Arlene was formerly employed at Union and Webster elementary schools, but enjoyed most staying home as a wife and mother. She was active in the community as president of the Wood County Humane Society, and as a long-time member of St. Thomas Moore University Parish, and attended the Wood County Senior Center. Arlene was an accomplished seamstress and avid quilter.
Arlene is survived by her daughters, Teresa (David) Knisely of Risingsun, Rebecca (Robert) McOmber of Bowling Green, and Michelle (Michael) Chew of Roscoe, IL; grandchildren, Lucas (Tara) McOmber, Elizabeth (Tom) Dishaw, Antony Knisely, Michael Chew, and John Chew; and great-grandsons Liam and Ethan McOmber.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, and siblings, Pauline Young and Paul Getz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday December 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster St. Father Jason Kahle will officiate. Interment will follow at New Belleville Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to St. Thomas More or the Wood County Senior Center.
