Arlene Louise Pugh

Arlene Pugh, 85 of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Arlene was born to the late Earl and Alice (Trumbull) Tolles in Milton Center, Wood County, Ohio. As an 8th grader, her family moved from Milton to Weston. Before graduating in 1950, she was a cheerleader and was chosen to attend the 1949 Buckeye Girls State. She also met her “love of her life” John Pugh and they married August 10, 1952 in the Weston United Methodist Church. They celebrated 48 wonderful years until his death May 5, 2001.

Surviving are: Carla (Steve) Meredith; Kay (Kraig) Hanneman; John “JD” (Kim) Pugh, all of Bowling Green; sister, Mary Ann Johns, of Weston; her grandchildren: Koury and Kara Hanneman; Emily and Rebecca Meredith; David (Jill) Pugh; Christopher Pugh; Lindsay Kruczkowski all of Bowling Green; and Samantha (Kyle) Kirby of Woodville; her great grandchildren: Alex, Karson, Gabriel, Oakley, Emma, Greyson, Nick; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers: Robert and Donald Tolles, and great-grandson, Carter. She will be greatly missed.

Arlene worked as a cashier at Weston Produce, postal clerk in the Weston Post Office, and later as a sales clerk for many years at the former BG Sears and Roebuck Catalog Store. Arlene was a faithful member and prayer warrior of First Christian Church, Bowling Green. She was a former officer and member of Weston/Greenwood OES Chapter, Red Hatters and Weston Homemakers. She, along with her sister-in-law, Phyllis Murphy, enjoyed cheering on the BGSU Falcon Girls Basketball Team. She and her husband enjoyed “RV-ing” to many great places in the U. S. and traveling overseas to many countries. They also enjoyed doing genealogy and Western Square dancing. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed many teas at the Wood County Historical Society, the Annual Weston Alumni Banquet; Concerts in BG City Park, TV shows: The Carol Burnett Show and the Red Skelton Show, and puzzling.

Arlene’s visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 3:00 -7:00 PM in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster St./ PO Box 648, Bowling Green, OH 43402 Tele: 419-352-2171. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Weston Cemetery.
