Sarah M Leggat

Sarah M. Leggat, 65, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away on Sunday January 28, 2018 surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her own home after a valiant fight with cancer.

Sarah was born on August 31, 1952 in Ballymena, Northern Ireland to the late James and Elizabeth (Hegarty) Hamill. She married Dr. Ian Leggat on April 10, 1981 in Buckna, Northern Ireland and he survives in Bowling Green. Also surviving are her two sons: Andrew and David Leggat of Fairmont, West Virginia and a brother Thomas Hamill of Ballymena, Northern Ireland.

Sarah was a Registered Nurse and a Midwife. She attended Dayspring Assembly of God Church in Bowling Green. Sarah had a true love for gardening and cooking, where she was especially known for her caramel squares and her Banoffee pies.  Sarah had a heart of gold, she would bake for individuals who were receiving cancer treatment at the Maurer Family Cancer Center at the Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green. Every Monday, Sarah took in home baking for them to have.  Sarah worked closely with her cousin in Northern Ireland in doing research and genealogy on their family. The most important part of Sarah’s life was her family. She enjoyed traveling to different places with her husband Dr. Leggat. Among her favorite destinations were Venice and St. Maarten.

Visitation for Sarah will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 from  2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 PM in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster St., P.O Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Sarah’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 1:30 PM in the funeral home, Pastor Jason Vickery officiating.
