Barbara Moyer, 88, of Westerville, Ohio and formerly of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away, Friday, February 16, 2018 surrounded by her loving family in Westerville, Ohio.
Barbara was born on August 3, 1929 in Charleston, South Carolina. She married Donald W. Moyer on April 30, 1955 in Cradock, Virginia and he preceded her in death on January 27, 2016. Barbara is survived by her daughters: Ginny (Bruce) Blake and Cindy (Tom) Bonds of Westerville, Ohio; grandchildren: Audrey Bonds, Bryan and Brad Blake and a sister: Marjorie Glick, of Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
Barbara received her Associates Degree from Richmond Professional Institute in Fashion Design. She later went back to college and graduated in 1972 from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in Home Economics. She was a Home Economics teacher at Bowling Green Jr High until her retirement in 1988. Barbara was an active member of the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Bowling Green. She was a member of the Greenwood Chapter 159 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Retired Teachers Association and a member of the Wood County Hospital Guild.
Barbara loved being a mother and a grandmother. She was very involved in her daughters’ childhood serving as the 4-H advisor and their Girl Scout Leader. Barbara was an avid sewer and loved cooking for her family and friends. Barbara and her late husband enjoyed traveling after they both retired, traveling to every continent including Antarctica.
Visitation for Barbara will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the time of her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM in the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 315 South College Drive, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402 with Rev. Melanie Haack and Rev. Jonathan Bull officiating. Interment will follow in the Wood County Memory Gardens, Bowling Green, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Barbara’s honor may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 315 South College Drive, Bowling Green, Ohio or to the Lutheran Outdoor Ministries 863 Eastwind Drive, Westerville, Ohio, 43081.
