Nathan “Nate” Downey, 38, of Weston, Ohio passed away, Thursday, February 2, 2017.
Nate was born on May 4, 1978 in Bowling Green, Ohio to Timothy G. & Debra (McKibben) Downey, of Weston, Ohio. He married Kelly Smith in 2002, however they divorced but remained close friends.
Nate is survived by his mother: Debra, his 4 brothers: Shaun (Tammie) Downey of Grand Rapids, Ohio; Travis (Karen) Downey, of Bowling Green, Ohio;; Drew (Jillian) Downey, of Grand Rapids, Ohio; Ethan (Kati) Downey of Waterville, Ohio; maternal-grandparents: William “Bill” and Charlotte “Faye” McKibben, of Bluffton, Ohio; nephews and nieces: Briton, Alysa, David, Kyle, Lukas, Madeline, Logan, Tucker and Cooper; great niece and nephew: Jaelyn and Jaxton, along with a host of loving aunts and uncles.
Nate was preceded in death by father: Timothy G. Downey, paternal grandparents: Marion E. & Mary Elizabeth (Amstuz) Downey.
Nate was a 1997 graduate of Otsego High School, where he lettered in football and track. Nate enjoyed his career working for the City of Bowling Green Fire Department and also working alongside his brothers at Downey Plumbing and Heating. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Bowling Green. Nate loved playing cards, video games and was an avid sports fan especially cheering on his favorite team, Notre Dame. However most of all, Nate had a love for all kinds of animals especially his two-four legged furry friends Remi and Roy.
Visitation for Nate will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 PM in the Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory, 1460 W. Wooster Street/P.O. Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio, 43402, Tele: 419-352-2171.
Memorial contributions in Nate’s honor may be given to the Wood County Humane Society, 801 Van Camp Road, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.
