Beat Dance Company takes Best of Show honors at holiday parade

Commerce Holiday Parade Project Team and the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce Foundation has announced the winners of the 2023 Bowling Green Community Holiday Parade.

This year’s theme was “Holiday Sparkle” and the panel of judges, consisting of Dr. Ted Hasleman, Dr. joBeth Gonzalez and Tom Kehres, oversaw a parade full of sparkling holiday cheer.

The Parade boasted 90 units this year, with 80 of those units qualifying to be judged. The following parade participants were given awards:

Cousino Restoration float won honors as “Most Unique”
  • “Best of Show” to The Beat Dance Company
  • “Most Unique” to Cousino Restoration and the Bowling Green Public Works Snowplows
  • “Best Float Decoration/Construction” to Wood County Hospital
  • “Best Youth Organization” to BW Twirlers
  • “Best Live Performance” to The Heights Baton Corp

The following criteria were used to score the floats: Adherence to Theme (Holiday Sparkle) Creativity in Decoration, Use of Music, Performance Quality, Wow Factor, Participant Engagement, and Costumes.

The parade this year had several spectacular performing groups, including marching bands, twirlers, dancers, Barbie costumes, Grinches, and much more. There were several extraordinary floats scattered among the jeeps, tractors, firetrucks, and classic cars.
