BG businesses get on board with Giving Tuesday campaign

From BOWLING GREEN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce Foundation is pleased to announce the plans for their 2020 Annual Giving Tuesday event in Bowling Green. What is Giving Tuesday?  Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.   Following in suit to the national movement, we will provide a platform for some of our local non-profit organizations as well as our BGCC Foundation to talk about their missions and create an awareness of the role they fill in our community.

This is the second year we will partner with Clint Corpe; radio personality for “The Morning Show” 6 – 9 am  on WBGU 88.10 FM to give a voice to our Foundation and nine other organizations December 1st.   We hope that these conversations lead to new community support of these organizations.

The message The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce Foundation would like to extend is “Everyone Has Something to Give”.  This is a day that everyone should think about what they can do help through a gift of your time, donation, goods or your voice.

This year the BGCC Foundation has also has the financial support of several local businesses.

Our local Biggby Coffee will host our radio remote at 215 E. Wooster St.  This is the second year that owner, Gary Dible will donate half of all sales on Giving Tuesday to the BGCC Foundation.   He will include the sale of any menu item, merchandise and gift card purchases.

McDonald’s Restaurants in Bowling Green will be donating 25 cents of every Big Mac® sold on Dec 1st.  This purchase can be made at either the 1050 S. Main St. or the 1470 Wooster St. location.  They will include sales at the counter, in the drive-thru, through the mobile app and delivery.

In addition, we are extremely grateful that we have a sponsor who will match every dollar donated to the Foundation on Giving Tuesday up to $1,000.  “We would like to thank Greg Kegler owner/operator of You Move Me at 18515 N. Dixie HWY for this generous offer.

The BGCC Foundation will use this day to make people aware of its purpose.  We are all about community! The Foundation was established for the sponsorships and donations that fund the BG Community Holiday Parade, the BG Community Fireworks and provide scholarships.  Any contributions received are allocated for the purpose the donor selects.

Mary Hinkelman, Executive Director of the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce commented, “We just aired our “Holiday Parade Reimagined” with WTOL.  Even though it had to be adapted to our current situation, it gave us a glimmer of normalcy.  I reference this broadcast because I feel it shows you how passionate we are about our community.  The events we organize do come with a big price tag attached to them and fundraising is a difficult task.  We are so grateful to all our sponsors and people who make donations that allow these events to happen.  I always want to make sure that we are good stewards of these donations and that donors are proud to have their name attached to the event.  We also have a need for volunteers, goods and services for these events and we are happy to utilize anything you have to offer for the benefit of our community. I also want to reiterate that our collaboration with these other organization is the right thing to do.  It lends a louder voice to the needs of our community.

The giving doesn’t stop after the radio program.  Donations and sign-ups can be completed through our website at BGChamber.net/Foundation/.   Please note that in 2020 we established the BG Community Events Fund with the Greater Toledo Community Foundation.  When making donations through the website you will be redirected to the GTCF website with our fund noted.  Our office is at Four Corners Center, 130 S. Main St. between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm Mon – Fri.  We would be happy to assist you in person too!
