While I was standing at the intersection of Haskins and Conneaut this afternoon waiting for my daughter to be released from Conneaut Elementary, I witnessed multiple drivers roll into the crosswalk instead of stopping at the stop sign, and several barely pause before accelerating through the intersection. There was even one driver who entirely ignored the crossing guard as he shouted at them to stop while he was trying to get a group of kids across the street.
Maybe it was the unseasonably nice weather, or maybe many of us have just forgotten that we need to drive extra carefully in school zones. Whatever it is, it has to stop because it’s turning me into a cranky old man who writes letters to the editor.
Kidding aside, I ask that all of us please pay attention and shape up. Please be more careful- none of us wants a preventable tragedy to occur.
