Dear Bowling Green Residents and School Board,
The Bowling Green Economic Development team is excited about the future of our community. We visit with more than fifty of our largest employers each year, and these conversations always remind us of our community’s strengths: our historic downtown, and our public university, and the privilege of having a public park within one mile of every BG resident. (Just to name a few!)
But another common theme is emerging in these conversations. As we work to retain our existing industries and attract new businesses to Bowling Green, a key hindrance is our aging school infrastructure. In a highly competitive market, quality of life amenities – including our school system – make all the difference. Companies want to locate where families want to locate, and we’ve seen that families make choices based on the quality of the local school system.
Let’s make that choice easy for families and their employers. Our buildings are decades older than our neighbors in Wood County, and it’s time to invest in the future of our community. We support the ongoing efforts to improve the school infrastructure in Bowling Green, and we’re looking forward to adding a new entry to the list of our community’s assets: premier school facilities.
