BG Fire Division ladder truck called to help extinguish house fire near Grand Rapids

Bowling Green Fire Division's aerial truck helps Grand Rapids Fire Department extinguish a house fire.

Bowling Green Fire Division’s ladder truck was called for mutual aid Thursday afternoon and again this morning to a house fire on Wapakoneta Road, near Grand Rapids.

Two people were reportedly home when the fire started Thursday, but were able to get out of the home unharmed. Grand Rapids Fire Department asked for BGFD to bring its aerial truck, and several other area fire departments were called for mutual aid.

Bowling Green Fire Chief Bill Moorman said the ladder truck was again requested around 5 this morning when the fire rekindled. The stairway in the house had been destroyed by the fire, making it difficult for firefighters to access the upstairs without the aerial truck, he said.
