BG police and fire divisions use Narcan to revive overdosed individuals over weekend

Bowling Green police and fire divisions responded to multiple overdoses over the weekend, and used Narcan to revive those involved.

Police responded Saturday around 8:45 p.m. to a report of two unconscious men in an alleyway in the 100 block of East Wooster Street.

An officer gave both men, aged 33 and 44, doses of Narcan, and Bowling Green Fire Division arrived to take over.

The men were reportedly in a nearby bar with friends, before going out to the alleyway. When a friend went outside to find them, he saw one of the men unconscious on the ground, with the other performing chest compressions. The man doing chest compressions then collapsed himself.

The fire division took the two men to Wood County Hospital.

Then on Sunday, at 6:43 a.m., police were called to a home in the 500 block of Conneaut Avenue for an overdose with CPR in progress. Police took over CPR and applied Narcan, partially reviving the 33-year-old man. Fire division personnel arrived, took over care and transported the man to Wood County Hospital.

As police remained on the scene, the woman at the home passed out and struggled to breathe. The fire division was called back to the home. A friend agreed to stay at the home with the children until a family member arrived.
