BG Police arrest Cygnet man who reportedly became combative after not getting pain meds

A Cygnet man was arrested Sunday (1/28) around 3:30 a.m., when he reportedly came to Wood County Hospital for pain medications and refused to leave.

Bowling Green Police were called to the emergency department for a patient who was reportedly yelling and being combative with staff. A physician and staff told police that Chad McGrain, 49, admitted to lying about his symptoms and only came to the hospital to get pain meds.

McGrain was reportedly advised multiple times that he did not have a valid reason to be there, and was told he had to produce his own transportation from the hospital.

McGrain reportedly said he was unable to stand and walk. Staff contacted his mother, who reportedly said McGrain can walk, but refuses to.

He reportedly continued to tell police that he could not stand, and after numerous attempts to assist him, the 210-pound McGrain became dead weight and refused to leave the hospital. He was carried by three officers to a police cruiser and taken to Wood County Jail. He was charged with criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct with persistence.
