A Waterville man was charged Friday with stealing a car, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and operating a vehicle while under the influence.
Bowling Green Police were called around 10 p.m. to the 100 block of North Summit Street for a vehicle being taken from the driveway of a home. As an officer was walking back to his vehicle, he saw the stolen vehicle pulling into the driveway. When the driver, Alexander Brown, 35, opened the car door, the officer reportedly saw shotgun shells on the floor board.
As police talked with Brown, his speech was slurred and he smelled of alcohol, according to the report. He allegedly would not respond when asked if he had a firearm, and refused to get out of the car. Police pulled him from the car, and reportedly found a fully loaded revolver in Brown’s pocket.
Brown was taken to Wood County Jail.
