Bowling Green Police arrested a Kentucky woman Saturday for carrying a concealed firearm without a license.
Police were called to a hotel on Campbell Hill Road around 1:41 a.m. for a domestic dispute between a couple in town for the National Tractor Pulling Championship.
Hayley Carey, 25, was cited for carrying a concealed weapon, and both she and Jarrod Carey, 33, both of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, were given criminal warnings for disorderly conduct.
Jarrod Carey told police they drove to Bowling Green for the tractor pull. They had not planned on staying overnight, but since they both consumed alcohol at the event, he thought they should not travel to Kentucky until the next day.
The pair got into a verbal argument in their room, and then continued arguing in the hotel lobby.
Jarrod Carey asked the hotel receptionist to call the police. He told police that he did not want to pursue charges, but he just wanted police to intervene and mediate.
Hayley Carey told police she had a handgun in the purse she was carrying. Police searched her purse and found a 9mm pistol loaded with two cartridges.
Hayley Carey did not have a concealed carry license, and she was reportedly drinking earlier in the evening.
Police advised Hayley Carey of Ohio’s concealed carry weapons laws. She reportedly argued that Kentucky is a permit-less carry state – but the officer explained that the law only applies to the state of Kentucky.
