Bowling Green Police Division responded Tuesday morning to a report of damage at Ridge Park, in the 200 block of Ridge Street.
A parks and recreation employee reported that overnight someone had damaged the plastic rock climbing wall on the playground – breaking a chunk off and fracturing the mold all the way around the structure.
It’s estimated it will cost about $5,000 to replace the climbing wall.
Ridge Park is the newest of the city parks, opened in the fall of 2015 on the site of the old Ridge Elementary School. The park was opened with the idea of preserving a place for children to play, learn, and discover as they once did at the elementary school and playground. The park includes a new playground, benches, open green space and a ball field with a backstop.
