BG police issue citations at parties over the weekend

Bowling Green Police Division issued three citations to people hosting gatherings in the city over the weekend, and to one person sitting on a roof without the owner’s permission.

The citations come after a joint decision by the city and BGSU to no longer issue warnings for gatherings, but go straight to citations due to the coronavirus.

On Saturday, at 5:25 p.m., police responded to a loud noise complaint in the 1400 block of Briarwood Drive. Police found a party with about 20 people in the backyard, and loud music. The resident, Justin Snyder, 21, was cited for disorderly conduct.

On Sunday, at 1:13 a.m., police were dispatched to the 500 block of Ridge Street for a loud noise complaint. Police knocked on the door several times, but the music was too loud for the knocking to be heard. So an officer shined a flashlight in the window of the residence. Andrew Shewey, 22, answered the door. He agreed to turn the music off. Police counted nine people inside the residence. Shewey was charged with disorderly conduct.

On Friday, around 11:25 p.m., two officers on bike patrol in the 100 block of East Court Street noticed two females sitting on the roof of The Cookie Jar. Katelyn Bache, 20, did not have permission to be on the roof and was sitting on the edge of the roof. She had to climb on the AC unit in order to get onto the roof and had to jump on the unit to get off the roof. Bache was cited for disorderly conduct.

On Saturday, around 12:44 a.m., police received a loud noise complaint in the 1000 block of Fairview Avenue. The resident, Levi Booher, 21, turned off the music and was charged with disorderly conduct. Eight people were observed by police in the residence.
