BG School District responds to ‘non-credible’ bomb threat at high school

Bowling Green High School

A bomb threat was made this morning at Bowling Green High School.

The threat was determined to be non-credible and the following email was sent out this morning to Bowling Green City School District parents and guardians from Superintendent Francis Scruci.

“This morning, it was reported that an unsigned note was found in a high school classroom.  A student gave the note to the teacher that read, ‘I planted a bomb.’  The high school administration notified Officer Short and the BG Police Department in addition to the District Central Office.

“The high school immediately investigated and it was determined that the student who handed the note to the teacher, was in fact the author of the note and there was no credible threat.

“As the suspected student was confessing that the threat was false, we were preparing an evacuation of both the middle and high school buildings through a coordinated effort between the administrations of both buildings.

“The district has pressed charges and the student was arrested and removed from the building by the BG police.  In addition, the student will face an expulsion hearing.

“This is a good time to have a conversation with your children on the seriousness of these types of actions.  Remind them, these actions come with severe consequences which include prosecution and expulsion from school.

“Thank you for your continued support.  Together we can keep our schools safe.”
