BG school parents asked to help slow the spread of sickness as student absences increase

Bowling Green Superintendent Francis Scruci sent out an email Monday enlisting the help of parents and guardians to help slow the spread of illnesses that are becoming prevalent in the district.

An increase in students absences have been recorded the past two school days. So Scruci sent home the following reminders:

  • Stay home when you or your student are sick;
  • Get tested if experiencing Flu, RSV, or COVID symptoms;
  • Notify your contacts in order for them to monitor illness;
  • Seek medical care if you are at risk for severe illness or experiencing significant symptoms;
  • Maintain social distancing when possible;
  • Continue to use cough and sneeze etiquette;
  • Hand washing on a regular basis;
  • Keep your vaccines up to date if that works for your family;
  • Wait 24 hours after symptoms and fever have gone away before returning to school.

The school custodians are spraying to kill any viruses that are present and are taking extra time to sanitize the classrooms and buildings.

“We need your help to help to keep everyone healthy and safe pre-holiday break.  Together we can keep everyone safe and healthy,” Scruci wrote. “Thanks in advance for your help so we can all have a happy and healthy holiday break.”
