Bowling Green native Andy Tracy will manage the Class AAA Columbus Clippers, an affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, for the 2020 season.
Tracy played baseball for Bowling Green High School and Bowling Green State University, from 1993-1996, where he holds the records for home runs with 45. The was inducted into the BGSU Hall of Fame in 2006. He also lettered in football as a punter.
Tracy, 46, played parts of five seasons in the major leagues as an infielder with Expos, Rockies, and Phillies.
He will replace Tony Mansolino.
This is Tracy’s second year in the the Indians’ system. He was the hitting coach at Columbus last season when the Clippers won the International League’s Governor’s Cup for the 11th time. Tracy and Rouglas Odor, who managed Class AA Akron last season, were finalists for the job.
Tracy spent six years as the Phillies’ minor-league hitting coordinator before joining the Indians in 2019. He played 16 years as a professional.
This will be Tracy’s second managerial job. He managed Philadelphia’s Class A Williamsport team in 2012.
