BGSU police let beards grow to benefit hospice

The police officers of the Bowling Green State University Police Department are foregoing grooming rules and “growing it out” to support Hospice of Northwest Ohio during the month of November.

According to Deputy Chief John Betori, each officer who chooses to participate in No-Shave November must donate $40 to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

A dozen officers and staff are participating. Some, including Betori, are contributing without growing beards.

The idea was presented by an officer, and the members of the force discussed which charity would benefit.

Hospice was chosen because it reached all segments of the community, including staff in the BGSU department.
