The film “Shoebox” will be screened followed by a discussion with the film’s director Faraz Ali and producer Noopur Sinha, on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Bowen-Thompson Student Union Theater, Room 206, on the BGSU campus.

In the movie “Shoebox,” the main character, Mampu, watches her father struggle to keep his single screen theater alive – as her hometown of Allahabad acquires a new name and starts losing traces of its past.

The movie traces the evolving urban landscape in India, particularly through the lens of the historic city of Allahabad’s transformation in the last four decades through a backdrop of the world’s largest gathering – Kumbh Mela.

“Shoebox” encapsulates the struggle to preserve identity, memory, and the heritage of a rapidly growing and evolving country – India.
