In May, 23 members of the Bowling Green FFA chapter attended the 97th Ohio State FFA Convention. Traveling with Otsego FFA, the Bowling Green chapter went to Columbus, where they achieved awards as individuals and as a chapter.

Upon arrival, FFA members attended the second general session of the convention. The Bowling Green chapter was recognized for their charitable giving of $500 or more over the past year. Shawn Carney (former sentinel) walked the stage for this recognition.  Members also experienced the career show and heard two keynote speeches during the convention sessions.  That evening, members gathered at Scene 75 Entertainment Center.

On day two of the Ohio State FFA Convention, gold medal officers were recognized on stage. The officers were evaluated on their officer books and record-keeping skills. During the fourth session, three BG FFA officers were recognized with gold ratings. Annie Urban (former treasurer), Casey Naus (former reporter) and Clare Tussing (former secretary) walked across stage for this recognition.

During the fifth session of convention, the BG FFA witnessed Addie Naus (former president) and Natalee Harris become BG FFA’s most recent State FFA Degree recipients. Less than 2% of Ohio FFA members receive this distinction. These two names will be added to the wall of state degree winners in the classroom. This degree recognizes “outstanding Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects, FFA achievements, and involvement in school and community activities.”

Addie Naus’ SAE was working at Mid-Wood Inc., helping customers find supplies that would best suit their lawn and garden needs.

Natalee Harris’ SAE was working at Belleville Meat Market during recent years, providing customer service and cutting and packaging meat.
