Casimir Vonsacken named BG Highway Patrol Post’s Trooper of the Year

Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Casimir A. Vonsacken has been selected 2023 Trooper of the Year at the Bowling Green Post.

The selection of Trooper Vonsacken, 38, is in recognition of outstanding service during 2023 at the Bowling Green Post. Fellow officers stationed at the Bowling Green Post, chose Trooper Vonsacken based on leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers, and the public.

Trooper Vonsacken is now in contention for the District and State Trooper of the Year Award to be announced at a later date.

Trooper Vonsacken joined the Highway Patrol in 2010 as a member of the 150 th Academy Class and has served at both the Lima and Bowling Green Posts. Originally from Toledo and a graduate of Start High School, Trooper Vonsacken graduated from Owens Community College with an Associate of Criminal Justice Degree. 

Other Highway Patrol awards received in the past include: Post and District Trooper of the Year, the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Distinguished Service Medallion, and multiple Criminal Patrol awards.

Trooper Vonsacken and his wife Rebecca, live in Wood County with their two childrenand take pride in being very active in their community.
