As we head into summer party season, keep in mind your use of aluminum cans. Whether you’re hosting a graduation party, Memorial Day cookout, Father’s

Day gathering or an employee appreciation event, you’ll probably use aluminum cans.

What if you could save and recycle those cans to help the BG BOOM Festival and Fireworks be the best event possible?

By taking all your used cans to either Bates Recycling or Work Leads to Independence, you can do just that! Bates Recycling will contribute to the BG BOOM Festival and Fireworks fund for each pound of cans donated.

Additionally, if you drop off your aluminum cans at either site, you can get an exclusive BG BOOM Festival and Fireworks can koozie, while supplies last.

You can bring your aluminum cans to Bates Recycling during normal operating hours at 12729 Jerry City Road in Cygnet. They will still pay out the standard rate for your donation while also donating to the BG BOOM Festival and Fireworks fund.

Work Leads to Independence at 991 S. Main Street in Bowling Green is also accepting can donations, with drop off available from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Take all donations to the south side of the building, with collection to the right of the large overhead door.

For those who would like to borrow a portable receptacle for their party or event, a few will be on hand to loan out with the completion of a Container Loan Application for Wood County Solid Waste Management District at WLI or WCSWMD. The application form for a container loan is available on the BG Chamber website.

More details on the BG BOOM Festival and Fireworks, including schedule of events, other fundraising opportunities, sponsorships, games and attractions at the festival, will come as the event draws closer and can be found at bgchamber.net/annual.
