Cocoon undergoes building renovations and marketing updates

(Submitted by the Cocoon)

The new year has proven to be a time of new and exciting changes for the Cocoon. Phase II of renovations to our agency began in January.

This phase of our renovation projects will include completion of the teen respite room and private advocate meeting space in the shelter; construction of a group room, which will allow space at our facility for such things as a weekly support group; private meeting space in our administration building for Cocoon advocates to meet with survivors; additional security lighting in our parking lot; and a new roof and HVAC system.

All of these renovations are necessary to provide safe, state-of-the-art service to survivors and staff, and keep our building in good repair.

Phase II renovations were made possible by:
– State capital budget appropriation dollars secured by Sen, Theresa Gavarone
– Anonymous
– Katherine R. Smith Funds for Youth administered on behalf of the Waterville Community Foundation by The Toledo Community Foundation

Construction underway at Cocoon

The construction manager is Spieker Co.

While these interior changes may not be seen by the community at large, the Cocoon has also revamped our logo, website, social media and marketing materials to better reflect who we are and the services that we provide. A teal element has been added to our logo to reflect our service to those affected by sexual violence throughout Wood, Ottawa, Seneca and Sandusky counties. Our website has been updated and made more user friendly.

Donations can now be made directly from our webpage and those interested in attending Cocoon events can make reservations easily at www.thecocoon.org.

The revamped materials were made possible by a grant from the Bowling Green Community Foundation. Cocoon staff worked with MadAveGroup to come up with a consistent look and messaging that can now be found throughout our materials.
