From COUNTRY GARDEN CLUB OF PERRYSBURG
Celebrating 250 years of America’s greatest treasures, Country Garden Club will host a flower show May 30 and 31 at the Way Public Library in Perrysburg.
“When we realized our 2026 flower show coincided with our nation’s big birthday, there was no question that Country Garden Club would join in the festivities with ‘Happy Birthday, America!'” said Judy Lang, chair of the 2026 show.
“Members from our own club and other Garden Club of America affiliates are preparing floral arrangements, tablescapes, photography, and botanical arts exhibits that honor the natural beauty of our nation,” Lang added. “They also give a creative nod to famous landmarks, memorable American eras, iconic American logos, and more.”
The members’ outstanding house and garden plants will be featured in the horticulture portion of the show, as well.
An educational exhibit titled “Uncle Sam wants YOU … to compost your food waste!” will also be part of the flower show, noted Lang. “The exhibit will be highlighting the city of Perrysburg’s ‘Scraps to Soil’ food waste composting program, a two-year pilot being underwritten by our club.”
Visitors will learn the importance of their participation, see initial results from the pilot program, and learn how easily they can collect and drop off their food waste.
All entries are critiqued by qualified judges from the Garden Club of America. “They generously give of their time to travel to Perrysburg, then share their expertise through educational comments and awards,” Lang said. “This show would not be possible, nor would we learn as much, without their participation.”
“The purpose of a flower show is threefold,” added Lang. “The first is to set standards of artistic and horticulture excellence. Second, we want to broaden the public’s knowledge of horticulture, floral design, conservation, and photography.”
“Finally, we want to share the beauty of a show with the general public. Because Way Library is such an accessible and bustling place, it’s the perfect venue for our event.”
In addition to the flower show, Country Garden Club will have its “ECO Boutique.” This boutique focuses on conservation by offering handmade items for sale that are made of repurposed and eco-friendly materials. Monies raised through the ECO Boutique support Country Garden Club’s community projects.
The show will be open to the public from 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, and 1:30 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 31.
