Donald E. Melcher, age 87, of Pemberville, OH, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, OH. He was born on May 10, 1929 in Bowling Green, OH to Edward and Elvena (Brolhost) Melcher. On July 23, 1994 he married Doris Hiser in Pemberville and she survives. For over 44 years he worked at the Pemberville Elevator, now known as County Line Co-op, with the last 25 years as their manager and retired in 1997. He was also a lifelong farmer. His memberships include:former member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dowling, where he was very active, presently a member of First United Presbyterian Church of Pemberville and a life long member of Pemberville American Legion Freedom Post #183. In his spare time Don enjoyed playing euchre, dartball, driving his golf cart, travelling and doing word searches. His greatest joy was spending time and playing with his great- grandchildren. Don served his country proudly while enlisted in the National Guard of the United States and was honorably discharged in 1951.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 22 years: Doris, daughter: Carol (Steve) Bushman of Pemberville, grandsons: Brian Bushman of Oregon, OH, Kevin (Abby) Bushman of Bowling Green, great -grandchildren: Dawson and Ellison Bushman of Bowling Green, niece: Joann (Eric) Williams of AL, nephew: David (Debbie) Krauss of NJ, special friends: Sue South of Pemberville, Alexa Almond of Tiffin, Jackie Martin of Pemberville, sister-in-law: Helen Jorgensen of IL and brother-in-law: Hank Krauss of FL. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Hilda (Wentland) Melcher in 1993 and nephew: Paul Krauss

Family and friends will be received on Friday, December 16, 2016 from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at the First United Presbyterian Church of Pemberville, 106 Perry Street, Pemberville with memorial services beginning at 11 AM. Officiating will be Rev. Jim Miller. A bereavement luncheon will be served at the church immediately following the memorial services. Interment will be private in Pemberville Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Marsh Funeral Home, Pemberville, OH. Memorial contributions may be given to: Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, First United Presbyterian Church of Pemberville or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
